THANKSGIVING WEEK ONLY!

Farmer: Skip Bennett

Location: Duxbury, MA

How they’re grown: The clam seed is spawned in our hatchery in Duxbury, the same one where we produce millions of oysters and they're hand harvested by Skip!

Story: As quoted in the Boston Globe by Devra First, “It’s a fine New England story. Skip Bennett, lobsterman’s son, grows up digging shellfish in Duxbury, where shipbuilding was once the town business… Bennett decides he’s going to try growing clams here: Clams die, exeunt clams. But what Masshole is going to give up on his home turf that easily? So he pivots to oysters, which turn out to thrive in the rough and tumble microclimate of frigid Duxbury Bay.”

And the rest is history, folks. While Duxbury has gone on to produce more oysters annually than all of Cape Cod and Maine combined, and is now known as “That place where the oysters come from”, it all started with the clams.

Don't forget a clam knife!

Freshness and Goodness

"First time order of oysters, clams and caviar. So fresh we ate the clams and oysters raw. Had some leftover clams and did a fried clam roll. Easy to shuck open and delicious — not a bad one in the bunch. We'll be ordering often."

Not great at all

"Very disappointed. The clam arrived semi opened with very very fishy smell. No smell of fresh ocean. Don’t believe it was harvest the same day. Definitely not raw consumable. Very very tiny as well. Write customer service about my disappointment but never received a reply. My sole purpose of paying $100 was for raw consumption but didn’t work out that way"

First rate littlenecks

"The 50 littleneck clams I bought for a raw bar on July 4th were delivered on time and none were open or damaged. They had none of the sandiness I often experience with quahogs. Taste was excellent and I finished off the last of them almost a week later; still first rate. Will definitely but these again!"

Clams

"Second time ordering them and it good as alway. Only reason I give it a 4 star cause the first time, they’re all usually the same size but the second batch just looks like they threw in a bunch of random size clams to make the count."
