2020 Island Creek Farm Tours

STAY TUNED HERE FOR UPDATES ON OUR 2020 SEASON.

Join us in Duxbury, MA for the 2020 season of Island Creek Oysters Farm Tours. Spend a day on our historic 11-acre farm getting a taste of Island Creek living while experiencing the process of farming oysters directly at the source. Walk the halls of our hatchery and see first-hand how the process of growing oysters begins.

You’ll then climb aboard our 27-foot Carolina Skiff tour boat and ride out on Duxbury Bay to see where the magic happens. Take in an eye and earful of history, lore and oyster gossip all the while being blasted with ocean air and filling up on freshly shucked oysters sourced directly from the waters beneath you - it’s farm to table at its essence.

If you are feeling confident, our tour guide will even teach you to shuck an oyster like a pro. Once your tour is over, you can make your way to our bay front raw bar, sit by the bonfire, enjoy the view and stay awhile. Our hope is you’ll leave Duxbury with a comprehensive understanding of our world of aquaculture, and have a damn good time doing it.

FAQ'S

When are the farm tours?

Wednesday through Sunday, May 20th through September 27th, 2020. 4 tours per day at 11am - 1pm, 1 - 3pm, 3 - 5pm, and 5 - 7pm.

How much does it cost?

Tickets range in price from $50 - $125/person based on month, day and time.

Where is the farm?

401 Washington Street, Duxbury, MA 02332 - Turn into the driveway across from the church, and follow signs on the property for FARM TOURS and PARKING.

How do I sign up?

Tours are sold exclusively on our website and are first come, first served. Simply select the desired number of people in your party, and the days available for that number of people will populate.

Do I get to eat oysters?

It would be a travesty if you didn’t. Oysters are all-you-can-eat for the boat portion of the tour. Tours are also BYOB so feel free to bring your favorite beverage pairing. The Raw Bar at the farm; however, is not BYOB because we have a liquor license, so we ask that if you want to have a drink before or after your tour, you get it at the bar.

What should I wear on a farm tour?

Please be prepared to dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes that can be worn outdoors, particularly on docks and boats. You will not be getting out of the boat and onto the mud flats, so street shoes are fine.

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my farm tour?

Tours are weather dependent, but we do our best to follow through with the tours whenever possible. If there is an issue caused by weather, and we can't take you out on your selected date, we will discuss the alternate options on a case by case basis.

Are you handicap accessible?

Yes, if you have trouble with mobility, we have handicap ramps and parking available. To make things easiest, you may want to consider a high tide tour because the ramp to the docks gets steeper as the tide gets lower.

How should I get to Duxbury, MA?

All guests are responsible for their own transportation to our farm in Duxbury. We have partnered with Safe and Secure Livery Service again! Enjoy an easy round-trip ride by leaving the traffic and transport to the professionals. Contact Al directly at 857-492-1781 for more information - but remember, they book up almost as fast as our tours do. "Don't Uber...Alber!" (It's 15% cheaper than premium ride sharing competitors.)

Is there on-site overnight accommodation?

Island Creek's very own Caretaker’s Cottage is available for rent for those looking to double down on their Island Creek experience. Booking is limited, but this will be the perfect match for those looking to take the tour, enjoy the raw bar and stumble home. Take advantage of the local history, our private beach, paddle boards, and general awesomeness that is the little town we call home.
