"I had never had sardines in tomato sauce - very yummy"
Ideally, you can just eat it straight out of the tin—so long as you're buying high quality products (but that's why you're here, isn't it?). For a simple preparation, you can put it toasted sourdough bread or crackers, with a little mustard and pickled vegetables for some balanced acidity.

Tinned fish lasts a very long time. We generally say it's best to consume the product by the "Best used by" date printed on the tin for best results, however people have been aging tins for generations. These products are completely shelf-stable and should last at least 3-5 years un-opened!
While not unequivocal, there are definitely environmental benefits to tinned seafood. A few reasons include: Increased traceability, shelf-stable, zero food waste, recyclable materials, and lower-footprint supply chains.
Tinning fish is a time-honored way of preserving seafood at peak freshness that has sustained families for generations; not only on the dinner table, but by providing a stable income to small coastal communities around Europe. At one time, tinned fish was even served to inmates in local prisons and was the main protein source for lower income families along remote coastlines. This history is reminiscent of the popularity of oysters here in the United States during the 19th century, when the abundance of wild oysters gave economic stability and affordable protein to working class families for decades until oyster stocks were depleted.
As an oyster farm, we’re diehard evangelists of the benefits of responsible ocean farming. We see aquaculture as an integral part of our future global food system. With the ability to grow shellfish, we reduce the dependency on wild stocks, decrease the excess of nitrogen in our oceans, and create meaningful jobs in coastal communities. Everybody wins.

"Great sardines! Not fishy at all - nice mild flavor with a nice tomato sauce. The spines on these are so tender satisfying to chew on. Love it!"
"The packaging is super cool, they taste great and are healthy, and it’s shelf stable for several years. A staple for any pantry."
"The simplicity is what makes it superb. These tins have actual tomato sauce in them unlike other brands that have tomato flavored oil. These sardines are great straight out of the tin or served warm over rice, in a salad, or on some crostinis."
"Best sardines ever! The spicy tomato sauce is delicious. I usually am not a big sardine fan but I really enjoyed these. Next order I’m getting 4+ tins for camping and to snack on."
"My new go to!"
"Sweat, not too salty and the sauce is well balanced."
"Caviar wasn't what it was hyped up to be but I don't think it was the products fault as the presentation was great and it tasted good, I just expected it to be ambrosia based on movies. 1 dead oyster out of 24 which is a much better rate than any other time I've bought shellfish, and I had kept the oysters in the fridge overnight instead of eating immediately which could have contributed to this. Oysters were as delicious as when I visited the Island Creek Oyster Bar's Boston location. Shucking knife worked great once we figured out the appropriate amount of pressure, and the shucking glove protected my hand from a cut the 1 time I slipped with the knife Served this to a party of multiple people to see if we were willing to purchase more in the future. Caviar and canned fish were mixed results but the Oysters were a definitive yes on buying again, even with the effort involved in shucking. All in all a great introduction to oysters at home, if you order this kit and don't like it you should stick to paying a little extra for someone else to shuck for you."
