We've collaborated with Ayers, Massachusetts’ R. Murphy Knives to create a sustainable shucking knife made from 50% ocean bound plastic recovered in Haiti.
ICO and R. Murphy have partnered with Envision Plastics, a company that provides jobs for people in the Haiti community to assist with beach cleanup efforts; a collected bag of ocean bound plastic pays enough money to feed a family of four for a week. The collected plastic is turned into pellets, which can be used to make new products.
The best part? It is still the same ergonomic orange-colored handle with our pointed blade tip that Island Creek designed with R. Murphy Knives years ago. It continues to be our favorite knife to use when opening our favorite bivalves.
