The Damn Yankee (3 doz Sampler)

Now, we're a little biased, but we think the best oysters in the world are grown right here in New England (to be specific, here in Duxbury and a few miles south on Cape Cod...but mostly here in Duxbury).  We'd like the opportunity to prove that to you, so we've assembled a dozen each of some of the best bivalves we know of, grown by some of the best farmers we know of.

The Damn Yankee (Sampler) contains three (3) dozen oysters:

Island Creeks hailing from Duxbury, MA -  With a highly segmented flavor profile, these are the quintessential East Coast oysters.  Strong salinity up front gives way to vegetal, mossy, buttery flavors of eel grass and seaweed which crescendo into a robust, sweet finish. It doesn't get any better than this.

Crowe's Pastures from Dennis, MA -  This crew does not need a boat to access their grant In the sandy open water of Cape Cod Bay, they can just ride out there in a truck! Trucks do not float, so these can only be harvested at low tide. In terms of flavor, A burst of salty ocean water upfront mellows to some nice sweet vegetal notes and a hint of cream. Opaque meat and a firm texture round out the perfect petite package.

Wellfleets from Wellfleet, MA - From one of the most famed oyster towns in the country, the Wellfleets are high in salinity. We like to describe these as a splash of clean, salt water. There is a large group of Wellfleet growers and we are fortunate to work with some of the best. The Wellfleets are grown off-bottom -- unlike the Island Creeks and Peter's.
